Top management must define and Environmental Policy that:

  1. Directly relates to the environmental impacts of the organisation's activities, products and services.

  2. Takes into account the nature and magnitude of all such environmental impacts.

  3. Commits the organisation to take all reasonable steps to prevent pollution.

  4. Commits the organisation to continually seek improvements in its Environmental Management System.

  5. Commits the organisation to compliance with environmental legislation, regulations and all other relevant requirements.

  6. Provides a framework for setting and reviewing environmental objectives and establishes time frames for their achievement.

  7. Is documented, put into practice and sustained.

  8. Is introduced to all employees.

  9. Can be accessed by the public.


STATEMENT

Inter County Office Furniture (the 'Organisation') recognises the importance of environmental protection and is committed to operating its business responsibly and in compliance with all environmental regulations, legislation and approved codes of practice relating to office planning through to the supply and installation of office partitions, storage and furniture systems. It is the Organisation's objective to operate with, and to maintain good relations with all regulatory bodies.

It is the Organisation's declared policy to carry out all measures reasonably practicable to meet, exceed or develop all necessary or desirable requirements and to continually improve environmental performance through the implementation of the following:

  1. Assess and regularly re-assess the environmental effects of the Organisation's activities.

  2. Training of employees in environmental issues.

  3. Minimise the production of waste.

  4. Minimise material wastage.

  5. Minimise energy wastage.

  6. Promote the use of recyclable and renewable materials.

  7. Reduce and/or limit the production of pollutants to water, land and air.

  8. Control noise emissions from operations.

  9. Minimise the risk to the general public and employees from operations and activities undertaken by the Organisation.


This policy is communicated to all employees, suppliers and sub-contractors and is made available to the public.

In drafting and reviewing the Environmental Policy all personnel involved ensure that is:
  1. Is appropriate to the nature, scale and environmental impacts of its activities.

  2. Includes a commitment to continual improvement and the prevention of pollution.

  3. Includes a commitment to comply with the relevant environmental legislation and regulations, and with the other requirements to which the Organisation subscribes.

  4. Provides the framework for setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets.

  5. Is documented, implemented and maintained and communicated to all employees.

  6. Is available to the public.
